Fireworks AI Powers Drive-Thru Voice AI for Major Fast-Food Chain
A global quick-service restaurant chain is using Fireworks AI's real-time voice intelligence to speed up orders and boost revenue, with plans to scale across thousands of locations.
A major global fast-food chain is deploying Fireworks AI's real-time voice technology in its drive-thrus, aiming to transform order-taking with faster, smarter AI assistance. The system, which delivers transcription in under 500 milliseconds, has already shown a 5-to-7 times higher order value in 100 pilot stores compared to legacy systems.
The partnership emerged after the chain's internal team benchmarked Fireworks against competitors like OpenAI and Whisper, finding it four times faster, more accurate in noisy environments, and significantly more cost-effective. Fireworks provides a unified stack for transcription, AI reasoning, and optional text-to-speech, eliminating the latency issues caused by stitching together separate tools.
From a proof-of-concept in early February, the system went live in 100 stores by mid-March. The chain now plans to expand to over 1,000 stores by this summer and eventually to all 6,000-plus locations worldwide. The goal is a fully digital order-taking future, where AI handles everything from upselling to order accuracy.
