Anthropic Opens Seoul Office and Announces Korean AI Partnerships
Anthropic has opened a Seoul office and signed an MOU with Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT to advance AI safety, while announcing new enterprise, startup, and research partnerships across South Korea.
On June 17, 2026, Anthropic announced that it opened a Seoul office and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT to advance AI safety and cybersecurity.
KiYoung Choi will serve as Representative Director of Anthropic Korea. The government partnership includes evaluating model safety in Korean with the Korea AI Safety Institute and exchanging information on AI-enabled cyber threats.
The company disclosed new enterprise deployments: NAVER has rolled out Claude Code across its engineering organization; Nexon engineering teams use it to write, review, and ship code for live-service games; LG CNS is deploying Claude to thousands of employees to develop software and deliver technology solutions for clients, and will extend deployment across the LG Group; Hanwha Solutions is making Claude available to global employees via AWS Bedrock, meeting strict in-region data-residency and security requirements; and Samsung SDS is deploying Claude—including Claude Cowork and Claude Code—to employees across Samsung Electronics for day-to-day knowledge work, agentic workflows, and software development at scale.
Startup Channel Corp powers its Channel Talk customer AI platform with Claude, a service used by over 230,000 companies across Korea, Japan, and the United States. Anthropic will also provide Claude access to up to 60 researchers at the National AI Research Lab, a consortium of KAIST, Korea University, Yonsei University, and POSTECH, to support work on AI safety, model evaluation, alignment, robustness, and broader frontier AI research. Nonprofit Good Neighbors Korea is deploying Claude to help staff analyze program outcomes, navigate social welfare law and internal guidelines, and reduce administrative workloads.
Anthropic said Claude for Startups is now live in Korea, and it has hosted Claude Meetups since September 2025. The firm co-hosted a Claude Build Day with BASS Ventures and plans a Push to Prod hackathon with Replit, Korea Investment Partners, and Korea Investment Accelerator. The Seoul office is hiring for multiple roles.
